After defeating Zimbabwe by six wickets, India finally crossed the staggering start with its most deserved win over Zimbabwe. Indians showed up in the first T20 international with a quick 112 to win, leaving five overs with Yusuf Pathan and Virat Kohli.
Earlier, Indian bowlers showed discipline, bowling proper line and length deliveries, and restricted Zimbabwe to a meager 111 for nine. Paceman Vinay Kumar (3/24) was the most successful bowler, claiming three wickets, while Ashok Dinda (2/27) and Pragyan Ojha (2/11) chipped in with two victims apiece.
During India's chase, the powerhouse Pathan and youngster Kohli shared an unbeaten 64-run stand for the fifth wicket to rescue India from a precarious 48 for 4. Pathan's 23-ball knock was studded with two fours and three sixes while Kohli faced 22 balls with three fours and a six for his 27.
