In the opening match of the Asia Cup in Dambulla, between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, Sri Lanka scored 242 runs losing nine wickets.
Shoaib Akhtar, Pakistan fast bowler bowled terrific, claiming 3 wickets for 41 runs in ten overs. He was out of the field since last 13 months and had shown a fabulous comeback by taking early wickets of the game.
Sri Lanka has won the toss and decided to bat first. Mathews had played his innings by scoring 55 runs from 61 balls and helping Sri Lanka to reach a good score. Jayawardene, another extremely talented batsman hit the balls to earn 54 runs from 64 balls.
Akhtar has taken first wicket of Upul Tharanga, who had made 11 from 16 balls and caught at first slip. Tillakaratne Dilshan also could not score good runs and loses his wicket on 18 runs from 25 deliveries and caught by Umar Amin at covers off Mohammad Asif.
Shahid Afridi has taken the wicket of Sri Lankan Captain Kumar Sangakkara who had tried his level best to help Sri Lanka to get recovered from their early wickets by making 42 runs from 63 balls.
Sangakkara along with Jayawardene made a partnership of 83 runs in 102 deliveries. Thilan Samaraweera is knock down by Abdul Razzaq at 17 runs.
Akhtar breaks the Sri Lankan flow by taking two consequent wickets, first was Chamara Kapugedara, who caught for 2 and Farvez Maharaoof was caught behind for 1.
